Advice

Which Bugari suits you – piano or button, standard bass, convertor or bayan, new or used? We advise you honestly, with more than 35 years of experience and the whole Bugari display to play.

Bugari Armando at first hand – since 2012

Since 2012 we have been the official distributor for the Italian maker Bugari Armando. In our accordion shop in Pforzheim you will find a large display of the various Bugari models – from standard bass to convertor and bayan accordions.

Before you buy an accordion you can play the instruments yourself, in peace, and judge their sound and quality for yourself. With our personal advice you will find exactly the accordion that suits you.

Playing it beats reading a catalogue

A Bugari has to be held: how does it sit, how quickly does it respond, how does it sound in your repertoire? Take your time, bring your sheet music – and, if you like, your teacher or someone from your orchestra.

  • Piano or button – B-system and C-system are ready for comparison
  • Standard bass, convertor or bayan – which bass system suits your music?
  • Size and weight – from the compact model to the concert instrument
  • Tuning and registers – cassotto, tremolo, voicing to your taste

What to look for when buying an accordion

In more than 35 years I have seen a great deal of this instrument and of the accordion world. Fair prices and instruments in good condition have always mattered to me. Sometimes a new accordion is simply too expensive – which is why people often ask me what to look for when buying a used one.

Many customers cannot tell whether an instrument is in good or poor condition. On the well-known sales platforms in particular it pays to be careful: I have often seen a rude awakening after the purchase, and with private sales there is sadly nothing to be done afterwards. So please do not hesitate to ask us if you are thinking of buying a used accordion and would like an expert opinion.

What we check on a used accordion

  • Bellows: airtight, or does it leak? Corners and calico strips in order?
  • Tuning: do all the notes sound, and equally on push and pull? When was it last tuned?
  • Keyboard and bass mechanics: rattling, sticking keys, stiff buttons?
  • Reed plates and valves: rust, wax, brittle leather valves – you only see that from the inside.
  • Case and registers: cracks, loose parts, do all the registers work?
  • Age and history: serial number, storage (cellar, attic?), accessories still there?

You are welcome to bring your used accordion along – we will check it free of charge. Or give us a quick call first: +49 7231 106744 07231 106744

Tuning, overhaul, workshop

If your accordion needs tuning or an overhaul, our own workshop is at your service. We look at your instrument together, draw up an estimate and explain why an overhaul makes sense and at what intervals.

More about our workshop

Checked used Bugari accordions

We also offer used accordions that we have checked ourselves – overhauled and tuned in our workshop, and recommended with a clear conscience. The stock changes; whatever is in at the moment can be found in the shop.
