Castelfidardo, the home of the accordion – and Bugari Armando, the workshop that has been building there since 1961.

Castelfidardo – where the accordion is at home

Bugari accordions come from Castelfidardo, a small town in the Marche region, a few kilometres from the Adriatic. Accordions have been built here for more than 150 years – nowhere else in the world is so much knowledge about this instrument gathered in one place. Walk through the narrow streets and you can hear it coming from the workshops.

The town

Castelfidardo is the centre of Italian accordion making: reed makers, bellows makers, mechanics, lacquerers – whole families have worked for this instrument for generations. There is an accordion museum, an international festival and a handful of workshops that still build by hand.

Bugari Armando – since 1961

Armando Bugari founded his workshop in 1961. To this day every instrument is built in Castelfidardo: from choosing the wood through the reeds to the final inspection. Bugari is one of the few makers that masters every step in house – and you can hear it.

Castelfidardo is closer than you think

All current Bugari models are ready to be played here in Pforzheim – with advice from people who know the instruments from the inside.
